Partial Hospitalization Program for Adults

This program is intended for clients who are experiencing problems with mental health and co-occurring substance abuse/misuse. This program provides an intensive level of care for individuals in need of structure and support to stabilize mental health symptoms, decrease substance use and manage acute symptoms following recent traumatic experiences. Clients are encouraged to work towards decreasing substance use while addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. This program strives to use evidence-based practices to assist clients to move to a sustainable life of healing and growth. Some evidence-based practices may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and others. The program also incorporates groups run by our Creative Arts Therapists and Holistic Practitioners. Some groups may include music therapy, dance/movement therapy, art therapy, yoga, Reiki, reflexology and aromatherapy.

Intensive Outpatient Programs for Adults

Our Center City location offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults (ages 18+). The IOP program provides a more structured program than weekly counseling sessions with a therapist. The core IOP treatment method involves group therapy sessions—individual and family counseling sessions can be scheduled on an as-needed basis. High Focus Centers utilizes a variety of therapies, such as:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Group processing
  • Skill-building exercises

Our counselors work to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that best meets the individual’s mental health needs. When medication is necessary, we will refer the individual to one of our psychiatric providers. Our IOP is offered four days a week for two hours and 15 minutes. Below is an outline of our specialized IOP being offered at our Center City location.

For adults who need more frequent counseling sessions, intensive outpatient provides a higher level of support. You will participate in both group and individual therapy and learn how to cope with stress without turning to alcohol or drugs.  Evening IOP groups for substance use and co-occurring disorders are available at our Center City Philadelphia location – ideal for clients needing flexibility to work or attend school.

Dual Diagnosis IOP

Our dual diagnosis IOP treatment is a comprehensive approach for treating substance use disorders that co-occur with other mental illnesses, such as anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The goal of dual diagnosis treatment is to help clients with these co-occurring disorders learn how to manage both illnesses.

Our dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)-based IOP is designed to help clients develop essential skills around mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and emotional regulation through a combination of evidence-based therapies and holistic approaches. By learning and practicing these skills, individuals can better manage emotions, improve relationships and build a more fulfilling life. A hybrid evening DBT IOP is available, allowing clients to join in person or virtually.

This group is intended to exclusively meet the needs of young adults ages 18-29 who may be experiencing mental health symptoms due to an increase of anxiety, stress, pressure and/or depression from life stressors. Clients will learn to develop coping mechanisms and improve their skill set to apply to their overall wellness.
