RADNOR, PAOctober 3, 2022 – High Focus Centers PA announced the offering of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at the outpatient mental health treatment program located in Radnor, Pennsylvania today.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a targeted and non-invasive form of electromagnetic brain stimulation. TMS is a safe, FDA-cleared outpatient treatment for depression. A drug-free alternative to antidepressant medication, TMS is available to adult patients who are not responding to their medication or cannot tolerate the side effects of their medication.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) passes alternating currents through a metal coil placed against the patient’s scalp to create rapidly alternating magnetic pulses. The magnetic pulses pass through the skull to the surface of the cortex, similar to an MRI. The magnetic pulses target specific areas of the brain affected by depression in order to strengthen neural pathways.

Administered by a specially trained technician, TMS treatment can extend up to eight weeks and is covered by most commercial insurances.

“High Focus Centers PA is pleased to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at our outpatient mental health treatment program in Radnor, PA. It is a much needed alternative treatment option that offers help and hope to adult patients diagnosed with depression who are either not responding to their medication or cannot tolerate the side effects of medication. We look forward to expanding this treatment option to our remaining outpatient program locations throughout eastern Pennsylvania,” stated Dr. Nedson Campbell, Chief Medical Officer for Onward Behavioral Health.

In addition to TMS, the Radnor, PA outpatient treatment program offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient mental health treatment programs for young adults and adults using a variety of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), group processing, and skill-building exercises.
